A Fecal Transplant? But I Thought You Didn’t Take Crap From Nobody

fecal transplant

Would you allow a doctor to transfer feces from someone else’s body into yours? Appearantly that’s what a lot of people are doing, and they are actually raving about it to boot. It seems that when some people suffer from serious lower intestinal problems, the last remedy for it is to remove feces from a donor, and transplant it into the body of the ailing person. A fecal transplant if you will.

The scientific or medical term for it is Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT). I was completely unaware of it until this news recently hit my email inbox. I figured it had to be some sort of spam or joke, but lo and behold, it is actually true, and being conducted in the medical field. Hmm, does that mean that our medical science has finally gone to crap?

I find this type of surgery to be gross indeed, yet I find it to be very interesting at the same time. Personally, I’d have to think long and hard about having this done – even if it was a life and death situation. I probably would die while still thinking about it.

At any rate, check out the video here to see how and why it’s done, and tell me what you think about the procedure.

Let’s see now, they have blood banks, and sperm banks, so maybe Poop National Bank isn’t too far off the horizon huh?
